In one year of fundraising, BBC Radio Cornwall listeners sent in a staggering £600,000 for The Sunrise Appeal.

The appeal was set up to provide the very best cancer care for patients in Cornwall.

As a thank you for the amazing efforts BBC Radio Cornwall staged two musical shows. One was held at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth, the second at the Carnglaze Caverns near Liskeard.

The show was produced by Radio Cornwall's mid morning presenter David White. Choreography was by journalist Rosie Dunkley.

The staff let their hair down to enjoy the show and produced some memorable moments.

BBC Radio Cornwall presenter Emma Lloyd
Emma LLoyd's powerful voice pleased the crowd

Emma Lloyd and Louise Milford performed some great songs including 'Yesterday Once More' and 'Pearl's a Singer' before joining together for a classic showstopper 'W.O.M.A.N'.

Their were poignant moments in the show too.

Denis Nightingale and Martin Bailie read letters from listeners offering their support to The Sunrise Appeal and telling of their experiences with cancer.

Chris Robins performed the Beatles' classic 'Here, There and Everywhere' as a tribute to his wife Jan who died of cancer earlier in the year.

Tiffany Truscott went 'country-style' with a foot-stomping version of 'Sweet Sweet Smile'.

The show's producer David White was on a seven week stint at BBC Radio Two during the lead up to the performances. Each weekend he would fly down especially for the rehearsals and was delighted with the finished product.

"The commitment of the staff has been brilliant," smiles David. "I felt the audience were with us from the moment we hit the first note."
