BlastYou are in: Cornwall > Blast > Blast Diary 5 ![]() Blast Diary 5Alex Hannon This week I've been busy finding out about a hugely popular local youth club, interviewing a range of people and improving on a few skills. It's been all go! I used to go to the club, Livewire Youth Music Project, when I was younger and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since I had last been, I had heard it had dramatically changed in many ways and so I wanted to know how. As I hadn’t added any audio to my reports so far, I thought I’d try and record at least one interview with people connected to the club. ![]() In Livewire's recording studio I went down there to speak with a few of the members to see what they were enjoying about Livewire, and was pleased to find the place still had a great, welcoming atmosphere. People were very willing to talk about their experiences. I’ve learned a lot from the past seven days. First of all, I realised I have a very dull “interviewing voice” and should probably not try for a job on BBC Radio Cornwall any time soon! Despite this, I think my interviewing skills have improved. I feel more confident in approaching strangers and asking for their opinions than I did just a couple of weeks ago. The project’s youth co-ordinator Andy is something of a local legend, and I was very grateful that he took ten minutes out of his eternally hectic schedule to speak to me about Livewire. ![]() Playing the drums One of Livewire’s bands, The Aviators, also spoke to me about what they enjoyed about the club, and about what it's like being a young band in Cornwall. Editing down a ten-minute interview takes longer than you might expect. I’m pleased with the final results, and think the audio clips make for interesting listening. Unfortunately I think I got so distracted with the audio recordings, that I nearly completely forgot about taking photographs. I took one of the Livewire building and another of the Tamar bridges the venue is next to, but none of the inside. That’s a shame, because the live music venue looks fantastic, even on the rare occasion where it’s empty! last updated: 08/04/2009 at 15:05 |
