Katie Knowles from Truro is going to a residential school at Loughborough University, being held by Dame Kelly Holmes. Katie Knowles may only be 17-years-old but she already knows what she wants to do with her life. Training for an hour everyday Katie's dream is to represent her country in the 2012 Olympics. ![]() Kelly Holmes That dream will move a step closer in April 2008 when she spends 10 days training at a sporting camp run by Olympic Gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes. BBC Cornwall's Rosie Dunkley went along to meet the young athlete. "We were all selected based on our performances last year, then we had to go to a selection day to prove that we had the determination," explains Katie ![]() Chasing her Olympic dream, Katie Knowles "I want to keep improving this summer and see where that takes me. Ultimately the 2012 Olympics. It's going to take a lot of work and it will be challenging." Working with Dame Kelly Holmes will give the young Cornish athlete a major boost. Kelly has an impressive list of sporting achievements: 1994 - Gold in 1,500m at Commonwealth Games Since her retirement from chasing medals, Dame Kelly has been running sporting camps to encourage the future medal hopefuls.
