The twister near Launceston Showground

Weather Halts Show

The popular Launceston Show finished early on Thursday 19 July because of torrential rain and a twister nearby. See our pictures from the showground in north Cornwall.

It was a wash out at Launceston Show on Thursday 19 July.

Organisers closed the ground after heavy downpours. The field became waterlogged with cars getting stuck and people falling in the mud. Tractors were on hand to drag vehicles that couldn't make it out of the quagmire.

From the showground people could see a tornado in the form of a twister.

Click on the link below to see our photos of the twister, and how the weather affected the Launceston Show.

BBC Radio Cornwall's Laurence Reed broadcast from the Launceston showground. His programme was taken off air temporarily as a result of the bad weather atmospherics.
