The Cornish Pirates and Mounts Bay rugby teams were victorious in their finals. See photos, watch footage and hear the reports. Thousands of Cornish rugby fans made the journey to Twickenham to witness two amazing Cup finals. The Cornish Pirates beat Exeter Chiefs 19-16 to lift the EDF Energy National Trophy. Mounts Bay beat Dunstablians 46-36 to clinch the Intermediate trophy. Audio and Video links on this page require Realplayer A late penalty from fly-half Alberto di Bernado saw Cornish Pirates beat near neighbours Exeter Chiefs 19-16 to win the EDF Energy National Trophy final. ![]() Victory for Mounts Bay at Twickenham The teams were locked at 3-3 before a converted try from full-back Gary Kingdom helped put Exeter 13-3 up. But Di Bernardo converted hooker Viliami Ma'asl's try and landed two more penalties to see the Pirates home. Meanwhile the excitement continued at 5pm when Mounts Bay took to the world famous Twickenham pitch to face Dunstablians in the Intermediate Cup. Miku Mua scored four tries for the Cornish side. The determination of the Mounts Bay team saw them lift the Intermediate Cup in front of their large team of fans who had travelled from west Cornwall.
