Band members Chico, Pedro, Raúl, José and Torremolinos have been playing to packed pubs in Penwith since inception and the publicans of north Cornwall can't seem to get enough of them. | "At the moment if we do an hour long set then we have to start repeating songs and we can't do covers because I can't sing to save my life." | | Raul |
The band recently played Lifeboat Day, St Ives on a specially built stage outside the Sloop Inn, in which the stage show included a bizarre looking cowboy/angle grinder adding the odd spark or two. In between gigging the band have been busy writing new songs to increase their stage time. Frontman Raul says: "I'm trying to write five more songs so that we have some new material to play." The band have still managed to find the time to put down their existing material on a demo album. A Dog Called Paco is likely to be available from a suitcase at the side of the stage at their next set of gigs. The Mosquitoes are due to play in the Semi Finals of Battle of the Bands at The Swan, Truro on Monday 5 September. Then the next big gig for them is Surfstock 2005 at Perranporth on 10 September where they will be supporting the Stereo MC's and Audio Bullies. For more details go to www.surfstock.co.uk. |
