IanHislop![]() Ian Hislop was born on 12 July 1960, in Mumbles near Swansea. He developed his penchant for satire at boarding school Ardingly College, where he directed and appeared in revues. Attending Magdalen College, Oxford as a student, he created magazine Passing Wind and met Private Eye editor Richard Ingrams, who offered him a job upon graduation. Hislop took over Private Eye in 1986 and became famous for numerous appearances in court, as aggrieved parties sued the publication for libel. Throughout the 1980s, he contributed scripts to a range of comedy shows, including Three of a Kind and Spitting Image. Nowadays, he's best known as team captain on Have I Got News For You and holds the accolade of being the only person to have appeared in every episode. In 2003 he co-created sitcom My Dad's The Prime Minister with Nick Newman
