DoonMackichan![]() Born 1962, Fife, Doon Mackichan is best known for writing and performing in Channel 4's award-winning comedy show 'Smack the Pony', which featured a female biased fast-paced blend of off-the wall sketches and slapstick physical comedy. Several of the 'Smack the Pony' cast including Mackichan went on to star in the critically panned (though not actually that bad) swords and sandals comedy-adventure film 'Gladiatress'. Prior to this, Mackichan wrote on and appeared in numerous comedy shows throughout the 1990s, including Chris Morris's satirical spoof news show 'The Day Today' - most notably as the vacant 'Collatallie Sisters' who turned financial news into a Dadaist nightmare of meaningless statistics; his controversial spoof current-affairs show 'Brass Eye'; and Steve Coogan's 'Knowing Me, Knowing You... with Alan Partridge'. She also demonstrated her versatility as a comedy actress playing an array of characters in her self-penned series for BBC Radio 4 'Doon Our Way'. Mackichan also starred in the BBC's dark domestic comedy 'Bedtime', and the veterinary-based sitcom 'Beast'. In 2003 she took part in 'Comic Relief does Fame Academy' and most recently played Cherie Blair in the John Prescott drama 'A Very Social Secretary'.
