China Tour Photos 2006




Hello Everyone,

We've just come back from our November Seminar Tour in China. This time we visited universities in Kunming and Chengdu. There were four of us on the tour - producers Helen Hu and Neil Edgeller and our project co-ordinator Youling Bi, who also acted as our unofficial photographer (she's very talented).

First we went to Kunming and we held seminars at the Normal University and the University of Finance and Economics. It was our first visit to Kunming, so it was very exciting for us. The students were fantastic at the universities and joined in with the interactive seminars with great enthusiasm. We were shown around Kunming by our hosts at Yunnan Music Radio FM97. They introduced us to "mi xian" 米线, the rice noodle speciality from Kunming and we also visited Shi Lin 石林, the Stone Forest, a wonderfully atmospheric place.

In Chengdu our hosts were Sichuan News Online http://edu.newssc.org/. We went to Chengdu University, the Western China University and the University of Information and Technology. Again the students were welcoming, friendly and very eager to learn English. We also held a BBC Learning English competition. There was so much talent it was difficult to choose the winners. Those who won went away with MP3 players, BBC audio books and T-shirts.

It was great to meet so many young students who are interested in learning English and finding out about Britain. We hope they learned some new English words and phrases and found out about some new aspects of British culture and life.
