Helen: Hello welcome to Real English from BBC Learning English. I’m Helen. Jean: And I’m Jean. Helen: Today we’re going to look at words and phrases that have recently become part of the English language. Jean: 在我们的 Real English 地道英语节目中，我们要来学学当今英国最新出现的一些新词汇和新说法。Now Helen, 今天我们要学的新词是什么呢? Helen: Today’s word is crash. C.R.A.S.H. – crash. Jean: Crash. 这个词我们好像已经学过了吧？是撞车、坠机、或者是股市冲击的意思嘛。 Helen: You have an excellent memory, we did cover crash before, but today crash has another meaning. Today it’s a computer word. If your computer crashes, it means it stops working suddenly. Jean: 那我们今天要学的是 crash 这个词的另外一个意思，就是电脑死机的意思，对吗？ Helen: Yes, and often you lose all the information. Jean: Crash 这个词也有电脑出现死机，我们有可能失去很多信息的意思。 Helen: That’s right. Example A: Why are you still here? I thought you had nearly finished your work? B: I had, but the computer crashed and I had to start everything again! Helen: I hate it when my computer crashes. Jean: Yes me too. Helen: The other day I spent 20 minutes writing a really long email, then the computer crashed! Jean: No, and what happened? Helen: Well I lost the whole message. I had to start again. Jean: That must be so annoying! Helen: Very, but luckily my computer doesn’t crash very often. Jean: That’s good. Let’s hope it stays that way. Helen: Now, let’s recap.
