Example A: How was the job interview? Do you think you got it? B: Well it started ok, but it all went pear-shaped when they asked me why I got fired from my old job. Neil: So, if a plan goes wrong, we can say it went pear-shaped. Helen: That’s a funny expression. Why pear-shaped? Neil: Um, I don’t really know actually. Helen: Oh.
