Helen: Hello. This is Real English from BBC Learning English. I’m Helen. Chen Li: 大家好,我是陈藜. 今天我们要学的是什么词语呢? Helen: Today’s word is ‘counterfeit’ – C.O.U.N.T.E.R.F.E.I.T – counterfeit. Chen Li: Counterfeit. 就是一个词，解释一下意思好么？ Helen: Well, counterfeit means fake. Chen Li: Fake 就是假的，counterfeit 也就是伪造品。那么什么样的物品被称为伪造品呢？ Helen: Well, you can have counterfeit money, or counterfeit goods. Chen Li: 可以再详细一点吗？ Helen: You can buy a very cheap Rolex in the street, but it isn’t real. It’s counterfeit. Chen Li: 原来这就是 Rolex 的伪冒品。刚才你说还可以用来指假货币。 Helen: Yes. If you make fake money you could be arrested for making counterfeit money, or counterfeiting. Chen Li: 那么，counterfeit 就是伪冒的，通常是仿冒有名的品牌，或者造假货币。 Insert A: What do you mean you won’t accept this money? B: Well, sir, I’m afraid it’s counterfeit – look, it’s the wrong colour. C: Those Vuitton bags are very cheap! D: Yes, too cheap! They must be counterfeit. Chen Li: Helen, 你认为假冒品是个大问题吗？ Helen: Yes. It’s a huge problem. If you buy counterfeit goods, you don’t get a warranty so if it breaks you can’t do anything about it. Chen Li: No, you can’t. I have to save money for the real thing then.
