Jo: Today’s expression is ‘golden goal’. Jean: Golden goal. 给我们讲讲这个词组的意思好吗？ Jo: Well, a golden goal is something that happens in football. It is a goal scored in extra time that gives instant victory. Jean: 原来a golden goal可以叫它“金球制”，就是在足球加时赛中，先进球的一方将直接取得比赛的胜利的足球赛规则。 Jo: So you could say ‘China beat Japan in extra time with a golden goal.’ Jean: 就是说“中国足球队在加时赛中金球制胜，击败了日本队”。 Insert A: Did you watch the football last night? B: Yes, but Manchester were lucky to get the golden goal. I didn’t think they were going to win. Jean: Do you watch football Jo? Jo: Sometimes. I like the idea of the golden goal. It makes games more exciting. Jean: Really? Jo: Yes. But sometimes it can be hard for the team that loses. Jean: Why is that? Jo: Well, you can dominate a game, then one golden goal and you lose!
