The increasing popularity of Fairtrade products reflects a measure of social change in recent times. Established in the 1980s, Fairtrade products now carry one of the most recognised logos within the UK.

What makes Fairtrade so popular with British consumers? It could be the knowledge that when they buy Fairtrade products, they are making a difference to someone’s life.

The Fairtrade Foundation gives millions of impoverished people the opportunity to work and to take control of their lives. Fairtrade is helping to lift these people from poverty.

Chris Davis, a director at the Fairtrade Foundation, explains the aims of Fairtrade and the concept behind it.
