In China shops open till late in the evening. How come that shops in the UK shut around 5 or 6 pm? Don't they want to do more business?   Ms Chen, Quingdao

One thing visitors to Britain will find is that shops in the UK tend to close quite early and there's no signs of any evening market.

Many visitors from China are used to late shop opening hours till midnight. But here in the UK, just when some of you are getting into the mood for doing some serious shopping, the shop doors are shut firmly in your face.
