Make your own Lunar New Year Card
Craft activity for kids to make at home or in the classroom to celebrate Lunar New Year.
- Red paper or card
- Template
- Crayons or coloured pencils
- Glue stick
- Scissors (grown ups only)

Steps to making your own card
Step one
Print the template.
Step two
Fold the red A4 paper or card in half.
Step three
Decorate the border using a yellow crayon.
Step four
Draw a peach blossom tree branch in the top left corner. Colour the base with a brown crayon and the flowers with a pink crayon.
Step five
Colour in the orange tree and lanterns. For the tree, draw some circles that you can colour in orange, for the oranges, colour the bush green and colour in the pot any colour you want. Then colour in your lanterns red and yellow.
Step six
Ask your grown-up to cutout the shapes on the template.
Step seven
Glue the shapes to the card.
Step eight
Finally draw your family portrait. And that's your card done!

What is Lunar New Year?
Lunar New Year, or Chinese New Year, is an annual celebration that marks the change in zodiac signs. In 2026, the festival will begin on Tuesday 17 February to welcome in the Year of the Horse.
