Free festive activities to do with the family

CBeebies can help bring some Christmas magic for you and your little ones to enjoy during winter. Check out our tips and ideas to keep the kids entertained throughout festive season.

There's so much to see in winter, and nature can look so different in the cold compared to other seasons. From trees to birds, snow and ice, and the amazing different smells. Get wrapped up warm and head outside to see what you can find on a nature walk.

Check out our bird spotting guide before you go to learn about the birds you're most likely to see, then grab a pair of binoculars and see if you can spot any feathered visitors on your winter walk.

Enjoy the fresh air and get out on your bikes. Make sure you are all wrapped up warm and you have gloves on, as the handlebars will get cold quickly, and adjust your helmets, so you can still wear a hat. For the little ones who will be travelling in a trailer, make sure they are wrapped up and cosy with blankets and even a hot water bottle.

If you're not sure how to start teaching your child to cycle, Olympic gold medallist, Joanna Rowsell Shand, has some top tips to get you started.

No need for glitter that gets everywhere or endless cotton balls to replicate snow! You and your little one can create endless magic, without the mess, with the CBeebies Creative Lab art tool!

You can colour in pictures, or use the fun tools like silly string to paint your own from scratch. There are loads of stickers to choose from to make your picture stand out, and you can pop bubbles of paint online, and watch your little ones face light up! Once you are finished, you can save and print your picture to hang on the fridge, or send as a personalised Christmas card to show off your child's amazing art.
