Have you ever left an online comment you regret? Sometimes you might be a cyberbully without realising... Try this quiz to see which path you'd take.

What is cyberbulling?

Cyberbullying is when someone uses phones, computers or the internet to be mean or hurtful to another person. It can happen through text messages, social media, online games or even emails. Just like bullying at school or on the playground, cyberbullying can make someone feel sad, scared or embarrassed, but it happens online instead of face to face. Sometimes cyberbullying looks like sending mean messages, spreading rumours, sharing photos without permission or leaving nasty comments. It’s important to know how to protect yourself and others.

If someone is being mean to you online, remember: it’s not your fault. You should never respond to the bully, instead, save the messages, block the person and tell a trusted adult like a parent or teacher right away. Adults can help you stay safe and report the bad behaviour. You can also help stop cyberbullying by being kind online. Think before you post, message or comment. Ask yourself: “Would this hurt someone’s feelings?” if so, don't post it. Treating others with respect makes the internet a better place for everyone. Remember, everyone deserves to feel safe both online and offline.

Try this quiz to see what decisions you'd make in different scenarios. For example:

  • Have you ever created a fake profile for someone you know?

  • Have you ever 'liked' or 'shared' a mean post about someone?

  • Have you ever posted something using someone else's account?

  • Have you ever messaged someone pretending to be someone else?

Take the quiz to see the rest of the questions, they may make you stop and think! Stay safe, be kind, have fun.
