Have you ever felt homesick? How did you cope with it?

Maud's diary replies: DolphinEmeraldKey One time when I was on holiday with my friend, I missed home quite a lot but I didn't tell my friend in case she was offended. I realise now that maybe I should have told her and it wouldn't have been all bad. Official Maud Spellbody: Well met, DolphinEmeraldKey! Talking to Mildred really helped me, but I understand why you were nervous about telling your friend about being homesick. I didn\u2019t want to bother Mildred too much, but she told me that\u2019s what friends are for!

Normally, what I do to cope with it is\u2026 I sometimes close my eyes and pretend I'm at home, I try to picture my bedroom or living room and pretend that when I open my eyes, I'll be there. With the lights out in my room at Cackle\u2019s, I can\u2019t tell the difference. Except when Midnight starts purring next to me!
Maud's diary replies: LavenderQuietGiraffe: I felt really homesick on my first sleepover but my friends cheered me up and I thought how proud they would be of me. My advice is to think of something happy and you'll be proud of yourself for that. Official Maud Spellbody: That\u2019s a smart way to deal with homesickness! Sometimes, when you distract yourself, you can forget that you feel down. I still like to talk to Mildred about it though, because she makes me feel better immediately.
Maud's diary replies: U17162700: Well, sometimes when I go to sleepovers I feel homesick but I always remember that I\u2019ll be seeing them soon and also if I'm away from them for a long time I take a photo of my family so I don't miss them as much. Maud's diary replies: U17619778: I do feel homesick quite a lot and kind of family-sick if any of my family is away. I distract myself when I'm sad by making up a story or reading a book, but most of the time I tell my friends and they distract me. Official Maud Spellbody: I forget how lucky I am here at Cackle\u2019s. Even when I feel homesick, I can always go on an adventure with Mildred and Enid, like they do in books! But sometimes, especially when it\u2019s raining, I love to curl up with a book and my mum\u2019s brownies, just like home.
