Poppy's Henry-shaped potato faces

National Potato Day may have passed, but our spud-tacular celebration continues with Poppy Cooks! Follow this recipe to whip up these Henry-shaped potato faces!

You will need
  • 3-5 boiled Maris Piper potatoes
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper

How to make your potato faces

Step 1

You'll need the help of a grown up for this bit. First, peel the potatoes and cut them in half. Then, place them in salted water and boil until they are slightly soft. You can test their tenderness with a fork.

Step 2

Make sure your grown up is still here! Once the potatoes have cooled, grate them into a bowl and add your seasonings. You can use garlic powder, paprika, chili powder (if you like it spicy), salt and pepper. Adjust the seasonings according to your taste.

Step 3

Mix the grated potatoes and seasonings together until combined. Add the cornflour and continue mixing until it becomes moldable, similar to a dough.

Step 4

Take a portion of the potato mixture and shape it into a ball. Use your hands to shape it into the head and ears of Henry. To create the eyes and other facial details, use a straw or a chopstick to carefully poke holes into the potato.

Step 5

Place the potato faces in the fridge for a while to let them firm up. When ready, you can either use an air fryer or an oven to cook them. Remeber to grab your grown-up whenever working with anything hot!

Step 6

Let your potato faces cool down, and then dig in! 😋
