Last year's festival attracted staggering audience figures of over 15,000 people for 200 screenings.

Watch your favourite films au naturel, outdoor screenings will give you that whole 'Greece' vibe (and you can keep your clothes on!).

Presenting high profile Uk premieres and international filmmaker guests, ambitious retrospectives, outdoor screenings, and industry seminars and events, the Cambridge Film Festival rivals its metropolitan cousins with ease!

The 2003 Festival will once again showcase the finest international independent cinema,from the briefest short film to the grandest 70mm epic.

Not forgetting the free open air screenings in Cambridge with another chance for film fans to catch their favourite films outdoors,when the Festival's giant inflatable outdoor screen will once again go up on Cambridge Parkers Piece (12th and 13th of July). And every screening is FREE-just take a blanket, popcorn...and a brolly in case it rains!

The alfresco experience on Cambridge's Parkers Piece features Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Friday 12th July, feature starts about 10.20pm) followed by Singin' in the Rain on Saturday 13th July (main feature about 10.30pm). The screening of Singin' in the Rain will be proceded by a magnificent fireworks display, to celebrate Cambridge City Council's Summer in the City weekend of fun-packed activities on Parkers Piece.

The exciting addition to the Cambridge Film Festival's programme, the Dubble Children's Film Festival continues into its third year, filled with fun-packed activities, free parties and brilliant films for kids of all ages including the UK premieres of some of the biggest summer blockbusters and family features.

UK premieres confirmed so far include: Wolfgang Becker's German box office blockbusters and Berlin Festival winner, Goodbye Lenin, Japanesse animated Oscar feature winner Spirited Away (which also collected Berlin's Golden Bear); New Zealand/Maori Festival hit Whale Rider (winner at Sundance, Toronto and Rotterdam);A Mighty Wind the folk music documentary directed, written by and starring Christopher Guest, Dylan Kidd's debut, the Venice FIPRESCI winner, Roger Dodger starring Campbell Scott and Jennifer Beals, Sundance winner, All the Real girls directed by David Gordon Green; Oscar nominee for Documentary Feature Spellbound; Fear X a Danish production starring John Turturro in a script co-written by Hubert Selby Jr (Last Exit to Brookyln); Iceland's
Fridrik Thor Fridrikddon's Falcon's starring Keith Carradine; Ismail Merchant's latest production, Merci, Docteur Rey starring Jane Birkin, Jerry Hall and Simon Callow; The Soul Keeper with Iain Glen as psychologist Carl Jung. Plus, Japanese box office hit Twilight Samurai and Peter Greenaway's Cannes competition entry, The Moab Story-The Tulse Luper Suitcases Part 1! with its eclectic cast featuring Deborah Harry, Steven Mackintosh and Isabella Rossellini.

So, to sum up: it's a fun-filled, lip-smacking, action-packed, wide-eyed extravaganza and you'd be a fool to miss it!
