 | Wednesday's live readings at Borders |
Our 24-hour Big Read-a-Thon was a unique event produced by the station's Action Desk team. And we'd like to thank everyone who helped to make it such an incredible success!
We asked you to come along and join in our Read-a-Thon, and you turned out in droves.
The event kicked off at 5pm on 27th May in Wisbech - home of BBC Cambridgeshire's Voices project.
Students, staff and parents involved with the Gordon Fendick School, St Augustine's School and Queen's Secondary School helped local author Sean Wright to tell the story of Jesse Jameson and the Golden Glow. Together, they read through the entire book (published on 17th May), and readers and listeners alike were spellbound by Jesse's adventures with witches and wizards.

Cambridgeshire's night owls were treated topre-recorded readings from around the county. Many of your favourite local radio and TV presenters were rounded up by the Action Desk team to read from their best-loved books. They were joined by people from all over the county who were eager to join in our marathon broadcast.
 | | Books galore at Borders | Bright and early on Wednesday morning we were hammering on the doors of Cambridge's Borders bookstore. The Market Street bookshop was home to the final ten hours of live broadcasting.
Trevor Dann and Emma Maclean, BBC Cambridgeshire's Breakfast Show presenters treated us to snippets from their favourite books - Winnie the Pooh for the cuddly Emma, and Samuel Butler's satirical novel The way of All Flesh for our Trevor. Bit intellectual that, eh Trev?
Throughout the day we were joined by hundreds of eager bookworms and celebrities, keen to read their favourites on air, as well as many local authors who treated the audience to extracts from their own novels and poems.
