You can join the Wysing Arts Centre to see filming, try out for a part and join in workshops on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September

If only reality were as simple as the movies; Americans would be able to ride into foreign lands and overwhelm those pesky natives without a second's thought for morality or health and safety. But hey, while you can't saddle up in Chatteris and ride 'em cowboy to Ramsey to oppress the townsfolk, you can join in a casting for artist Shezad Dawood's western film.

Dawood's film, Feature, has been commissioned by the Wysing Arts Centre and will see the gallery taken over for the weekend of the 15th September by saloons, wagons and tumbleweeds.

Cowboy auditions

By mixing in his own Indian and Pakistani identity with the Hollywood Wild West images of cacti and lasso ropes, Dawood looks to combine East and West themes through the making of a movie.

And it's a film that you could be in! Auditions for extras are being held at the Wysing Arts Centre on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September, while the rest of the movie will be shot in the Cambridgeshire countryside. But it's not just about the auditions, the day is a great opportunity to don your chaps and come down dressed as a cowboy or to take part in one of the artistic cowboy-costume workshops.

The days should also include gunfights, saloon brawls and zombie cowboys meaning there's plenty to watch and enjoy - you can even bring a picnic along.

Auditions are aimed at adults but all other activities are child friendly. Just turn up between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September to take part, it's all free.
