David Dimbleby, the trusty stalwart of the BBC, has an enthusiasm for British buildings. That's why he was asked by the BBC to help them explore 1,000 years of history through buildings for a new series called How We Built Britain.

Ely Cathedral
Ely Cathedral

So without a second's thought, David had jumped into his Land Rover to trek thousands of miles around the British Isles to produce a book as well as the programme, which celebrates the buildings we love.

The new series starts in the east of England, and leads David to Ely Cathedral. He tells Sue all about his time there, memories of King's College and his feelings on the Gherkin!
