They're in the final stages of a farewell tour around the west country and are holding their final performance next March at St George's In Bristol. Help playing audio/video Jet King's new track, Weasel MD has made the top ten of the myspace charts - thanks to some hackers. Their experience as victims of myspace hackers got them unexpected publicity, which massively boosted their click-rate. They're in action tomorrow, Sunday November 25 in a benefit for Bristol Amnesty International at the Golden Lion on Gloucester Road. Let's Tea Party are celebrating after making it through to the final of the Moles Battle Of The Bands in Bath. They're also playing at Big Jeff's charity shindig at Joe Public's on Wednesday, November 28 to raise money for the proposed new Bristol Festival. The debut album by Self Service has just been released and is available from iTunes, among other places. It's on Guy Chambers' label Sleeper Records. TOP GIGS Tonight, it's the first and only performance of the Echo Park Chamber Orchestra conducted by Peter Risdale. They're performing songs from their CD, Church Of Crocodiles at Bristol County Sports Club near the Colston Hall. Also tonight it's the launch party at The Croft for the new compilation of shoe gazing music by the local record label, Invada. Bands featured on The Secret Garden will be playing, including The Fauns, Ulrich Schnauss and Kyte. Next Tuesday, November 26 Keith Tippett is at the Colston Hall with his octet to perform the world premiere of his new work, Granite To The Wind. FINE TUNED TRACKS THE SHRINKS - Do Like The Bears Do (Grizzly Business) 17th November MEETING THE MUSOS The Following Announcement are four lads from South Gloucestershire whose first gig proper was at The Colston Hall. They've been signed to an American label, Firestorm Records, and have just released their debut LP, Art Of Conversation. They're off touring the UK next January and have a week of dates booked in the US in March. You can next catch their brand of guitar pop and energetic live show at The Hatchet next Thursday, November 22. Help playing audio/video GETTING THE GOSSIP Let Me Know by Shadz, Type and JB has just been given a five star review in DJ Mag. Shadz is preparing go on tour next month and has promised a new EP early next year. The 3rd annual South West Sound search has begun - bands who are chosen get a song on 10 thousand cover mount CDs for the industry magazine, Music Week and performance slots during South West Sound 2008 in Bristol or Dartington. Details of how to submit music are on the South West Sound website. A new acoustic showcase night is starting in Clevedon. It'll take place at Campbells Landing in Clevedon on Tuesday nights. Those interested in getting involved should contact Alfie Kingston via his Myspace page. Polestar's new CD, Connect is out on Netwerk Records next Friday, November 23. The Heavy are starting their UK tour in Cardiff tomorrow Sunday, November 18 and end it at the Thekla in Bristol on Saturday, December 1. FINE TUNED TRACKS THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT - Going It Alone 10th November MEETING THE MUSOS Rachael Dadd's gentle, folky refrains have made her a popular figure on Bristol's acoustic scene - not to mention further afield. She's previously toured in America and is setting out on a UK tour next weekend. Her albums are on Cleaner Records and the Japanese label, Angel's Egg, the newest being launched next Friday, November 16 - it's called The World Outside Is In A Cupboard. Rachael's also part of a side project duo called The Hand with Wig Smith. For several years, she's worked on Bristol's ferries, a job that often proves to be a source of songwriting inspiration. Help playing audio/video GETTING THE GOSSIP TOP GIGS The creepy silent movie about witchcraft, Haxan is being shown tonight at the Pro Cathedral in Clifton with live soundtrack from Bronnt Industries Kapital and support from Grouper. Also tonight, The Croft on Stokes Croft is holding a relaunch party after it was recently bought by a trio from the city's music industry: Paul Horlick of Invada Records; Matt Otridge of Deadpunk Promotions; and Pete Wright, formerly of Replay Records. Fortune Drive are headlining with support from Santa Dog. Thursday, November 15 - The Louisiana - Flukestar, Madeleine Black and Ultranova. Monday, November 12 - The Fleece - Rock Pirates, Afterlite, Milano and Them Brokes. FINE TUNED TRACKS RACHAEL DADD - The Wires 3rd November MEETING THE MUSOS Bronnt Industries Kapital was orginally formed by Guy Bartell and Nick Talbot of Gravenhurst as an outlet for their shared interest in layering electronic sounds. The live line-up has included Tom Bugs and Max Milton and currently features Anton Maiof from Geisha and Duncan "War Against Sleep" Fleming. Music with shades of Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk is Bronnt's stock-in-trade, although latterly funkier, more beat-driven elements have been introduced. Their first album, Virtute et Industria is still available on Static Caravan and they're currently performing their live soundtrack of the creepy old Swedish witchcraft movie, Haxan around the UK and Europe. They'll be in Bristol at the old Pro Cathedral in Clifton with the show next Saturday, November 10. A second album is also planned for release next year. Help playing audio/video GETTING THE GOSSIP -Secret Shine have been invited to play at the prestigious South By South West event in Austin, Texas next March. TOP GIGS -Sunday, November 4 - Angel Tech and Rasha Shaheen, The Cedar, Beth Rowley and Redd are among the acts appearing on an all-day benefit show at The Folk House for the BCFM radio station in association with Jelli Records. It starts at 1300 and tickets are £6.
