Halloween special: Were you tricked?

It's the radio programme you've all been talking about - we left Richard Lewis at the end of the Halloween programme to the sound of some very scary noises at Crowley Manor.

Richard was trying to get owner Carolyn Craig out of an attic when the link to the studio failed - but the whole frightening incident was all just a spoof.

Were you tricked by our BBC special FX record and studio full of props?

Did you realise that most of the programme was broadcast from our car park and dusty corridors at the back of the BBC Bristol building?

The show became a three-hour improvised drama - just for one day!

All of the guests, though, were real except for the lady of the manor herself.

Watch the films below to get an insight into how we produced the show ...

It wasn't April 1st was it................

Linda
I've always enjoyed the show and look forward to listening on my way home from work. I was genuinely worried about the presenters but now that I find that it was all a joke I will be listening to another radio station - I don't think making fools of listeners funny. I am nearly 60 and have never contacted a radio station before, but this made me very angry and I'm afraid I will never trust Radio Bristol again!

Steve from 'Burnham'
I didn't think it was true.

gill buxton
Fooled until you "lost contact"!

Karen
Well Richard, I have been thinking about this all day at work, and have just logged on...completely fooled by the show...I@m gutted ..I even woke my partner up in the middle of the night worrying how you were!!!! We're off to Croyde bay for the weekend, so won't hear your show on Sunday..Well Done..you completely fooled me Karenx

Check with google: It is not Crowley Manor! It is Crowley Hall. If genuine I am sure the Lady of the Manor would have put you right.

Rick
I knew there was something funny going on - great radio though. Glad there isn't someone really stuck in the cellar.

Jill Stephens
it was a brill spoof, but I'm afraid I saw through it almost immediately. Mainly because you didn't give the full address of Crowley Manor, and the dropping of the tea try just confirmed everything. just a tad over the top!! I always enjoy your programme and look forward to the daft ideas you come up with. You see, I am of a certain age ( the same as you), and I can relate to your 'Round the Horne' type of humour. Long may the programme last. regards Jill Stephens from Backwell

Edna
Thought so, you all look good standing in the passages. Thanks for the entertainment.

Steve from Knowle
Nice try, but come on, any one with a tad of intel would have checked out the Internet........... Are you going to do a Christmas Panto this year........

Alfie Locke
Sorry not fooled,however nice try!!!!

Peter - Portishead
Richard! You may have just lost one of your biggest fans. My Wife listens to you most days - but after I played the video to her she was so disgusted she refused to add her own comments. Your "spoof" may have misfired!!

Jen
Hi Richard & Ben,You are a pair of very bad boys! You should be ashamed of yourselves. You had me fooled until I looked up Crowley Manor on the internet as I have a real interest in haunted houses and I thought I had never heard of it.It was a good programme but you're exceptionally naughty, both of you. With Ben being the Wookie, why didn't you do the programme from Wookey Hole?So naughty!Jen xx

pat gill
Brilliant!

Gayle
Good idea but I suspected it to be a spoof and looked up Crowley Manor on the internet where I discovered it to be a computer game! Sorry. Still enjoyable though
