Gene PitneyRichard was lucky enough to be given the chance to interview Gene Pitney just before he began what would turn out to be his final tour. The late singer had lots of connections to Bristol and a huge fanbase here. One of those fans rang the station with a bizarre story about singing one of Gene's hit songs. The War of the World's Jeff WayneThe man who owns the rights to the word "The" spoke to Richard about writing and recording a musical version of the H.G Wells book. The subsequent album was an enormous success and he spoke to Richard Lewis about The War of the Worlds and how he managed to persuade Richard Burton to narrate it. Simon Pegg and Nick FrostSimon's new film, Hot Fuzz, was filmed around the West and features the Somerset city of Wells. But the connections don't stop there: Simon went to Bristol University and Nick dons a Bristol Rovers shirt in one scene of the comedy flick.
