Steve from Basel
Geoff Dunford is unfortunately going no where. This is just a bit of musical chairs in the boardroom and there will no doubt be a Dunford puppet in the chair come next April, that`s unless Dunford decides he must stay `for the good of Rovers`.I would like to see GD leave Rovers completely. The RAfC is the way forward for Rovers fans.I will thank GD for the good things he has done at Rovers when he leaves. The problem is,because he (mainly his father) helped saved Rovers he thinks he can help destroy them now!Oh and when Dunford goes, please take Bradshaw with him,the man has done nothing for Rovers over the last couple of years.
Greetings
Steve

Unlike Bristol City who have had benefactors and more like Harry Dolman, Bristol Rovers have had nothing and no one. Didn't the supporters pay for the North Stand and Floodlights at Eastville? Didn't the sale of players, good players pay for the running of the club in latter years? This for a club in a city the size of Bristol! How many managers has the club had in the last 6 years? Are they all that bad that they were sacked? How much have their contracts cost Mr Dunford? Has that been value-for-money? Cheltenham through conference to a higher divison; Yeovil too. Palatial training facilities and student flats get you nowhere when you are in the Conference. Dunford and his board should get the message; your management skills are wrong, your business strategy is wrong, your priorities are wrong. Bristol Rovers does not need you, it needs someone who has the acumen and finance to spot a good high profile manager to bring in the good publicity, profile and resultant increased gates, too the players who are prepared to play as a team just as Scotland have done against France and England have not against Macedonia. Paul Ince is available and we are not that far from Chester. Whatever happened to Lennie Lawrence or has he left too? Perhaps I am out of touch following the club from Yorkshire. Still I look forward to the Bury game. Mr Dunford is a perpetuation of previous bad Board experience for Bristol Rovers and will only be a success for the club when he departs entirely.

The present situation has to be improved for the fans sake, the problem is who is going to replace Dunsford,Its hardly a viable proposition for a money making business. If BRFC were a racehorse it would be shot !!!

Most of the comments show just how much of a gap exsists between Dunford and the fans.I believe this is long overdue. As for saving the club twenty years ago ,like so much of the financial dealings surrounding our club, remains shrouded in mystery,we will never know the full truth.Personally,i am glad to see the back of him.So long as Bradshaw goes as well,i will be happy.

I'm not one of the hecklers, but I think it is time for new blood, a new push and a clean slate.
rory j
about time he left, too many managers and too little money into the club has cost rovers a hell of a lot over the past 5 years. but why now? wot was wrong with this summer...
steve quan
More news but there will be no change. I can't bear to go and watch rovers anymore because every time i watch or listen to them they conceed goals and lose. Gone are the glory days of Bruno and Nigel Martyn. Why did I choose to support Rovers as a child? I remember, it was because they used to be good. The fans have suffered far too long. Come on Rovers, give your fans something to cheer about!
martin
at last!!!! hurrah! And how dare people say how good he's been. His father did ok, but Geoff's leadership of the club has been appalling. Sacking John Ward and Bringing Olly was a good idea was it? he got us RELEGATED to the bottom division for the first time in our history. and John Ward took Cheltenham up a divsion.... you figure out how good a decision that was!
Ken
I think Mr Dunford has gone as far as he can with the Rovers, the time now may well be right to find a new chairman with fresh ideas and hopefully a cash injection.

Goodnight and godbless to bad rubbish, its about 3 years too late in my opinion. Good luck in the future Rovers, the only way is up.
Shaun Finning
I am partially glad, but i will not pay my £15 to see the team play until he has left the club, I am sure I speak for the 4000 or so fans who used to turn up who now do not. Give it all up Geoff. Simple you walk and watch the crowds get back to the 8000 we are used to seeing at the Mem.
Calum Stock
I agree 100% with what Jamie said... where has all of the money gone from the sale of all of our top players Geoff?
Ken Edwards
Dunford should stand down immediately and completely from the board. He has presided over the complete downfall of this club and should go now !!
Jamie
Before you go Geoff can you please let us know where the money for Barry Hayles, Jason Roberts, Gareth Taylor, Marcus Stewert, Nathan Ellington and many more has gone???
Ian
I would like to sincerely thank Geoff for all his efforts over the years. Without him there would probably be no Bristol Rovers and we would'nt be having this debate now. Having said that I do feel that the time is right for change to allow the club to progress and get us out of the slump we have been in for the last 7 years.
barry wilde
about time he has just let the club go down hill for the last few years and made poor decisons with managers thank god he is going bye bye dunford
Richard Coombs
I always liked him. I remember seeing Rovers vs Northampton Dec'03 and thinking the club was well organised. I'll miss his contributions.
Emma
AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!! He should leave now before he can do anymore damage (if that's possible) Bring back Ollie !
John Burton
There's gonna be a party at the memorial stadium tomorrow!!!!! Let hope the new man can try and bring John Ward back!!!
ryan peacock
its very good that he is going to quit but who will take his place???????
Benni
I can't understand why people think we as Gasheads owe Dunford anything. His family may have saved the club from bankruptcy 20-odd years ago, but the way football has evolved since means we need someone willing to contribute financially to the club to improve our on-field fortunes. Not someone who sells on our best players for financial gain while the club itself moves backwards.
Darthweed
Geoff Dunford's resputation at Rovers relies solely on his father Denis Dunford's great efforts in the past. The time to stand down is now, not in 6 months having already dictated the club's future before he goes. He'll still be a board member, and the board will still continue to follow his current stance which is exactly the reason the fans want him out!
Neil Butler
About time !!!
He has always put his own interests first and where has all the ££££'s gone from the sale of our best players? Don't think this will change anything on the pitch as we still have a poor squad.
Paolo Hammondo
Rovers are on the way to the conference with Dunford involved, get him off the board completely.
Kelvin Snow
I will now return to the Mem. Hopefuuly to watch a big change in fortunes for the club. Thanks for the good news Geoff...
Ed Chambers
Sooner he is out of control the better, he has done nothing but undo the good work done by his father, all he has done is take the club backwards and sack plenty of good managers without giving them a decent chance of success.
Nick Moore
You place all the blame at Dunford's door step, the collapse of ITV digital, fickle fans and some frustrating managerial reigns have all contributed to Rovers currernt position! Until Roman Abramovich ditches Chelsea for the bright lights of the Memorial Dome, things will carry on as they are
Jed Hitman
Dunford stands down as chairman but don't get too carried away, nothing much has actually changed. He is still on the board and still surrounded by the same greedy incompetents who have seen us to within a whisker of non-league football. Whatsmore, they will only be increasing their shareholding with the upcoming share issue. Lovely! £££££££££
Nigel
Mr Dunford should stand down completely from the board, he is killing this club and should go now
Adrian
All we need now is a Russian Billionaire to take over, or if I win the Euro Millions tonight I'll happily take over and take Rovers to new Heights, Higher than the Memorial Stadium which is the only heights Geoff has got us too
Adam Hosking
Geoff Dunford has done some great things for the club such as saving the club from going out of business in the 80's, bringing the club back to Bristol, brining Ian Holloway (Gas Legend) back to the Gas as manager & taking Rovers to two Wembley appearances (1990 & 1996). But Dunford in my opinion hasn't led the club to anything in the last 10 years apart from relegation to League Two (Third Division as it was called then). We really need a change and this is why I am over the moon that he has set this date. The boardroom row was the last straw for me when board members such as Kim Stucky had to resign over the summer. For this club to get back where it deserves to be (Championship level) we need someone with ambition and a drive to get our club sorted out which Dunford didn't have. Youth development in recent years has been disastrous with only Lewis Haldane coming though the ranks. This has to be one of the main concern’s for who ever becomes the new chairman as we need more passion in the team and I believe that this will come from Bristol (and surrounding area) lads that feel pride in wearing the blue and white quarters.
Polly Pirate
A great shame IMO. Geoff has done a tremendous job for Rovers in recent years. I really cant understand his decision.
Phil Jones
BEST NEWS FOR AGES! Sooner than man releases control of the club the better. Perhaps we can actually have a chairman with Vision and Ambition for the club. Geoff Dunford's reign as chairman has overseen far too many managers and he has taken this club to the bottom of the Football league structure! Hopefully hopefully the new chairman will be a new face on the board, not just one of his Yes men!
Bill Gas
He has taken the club nowhere. There are questions that have remained unanswered surrounding a number of transfers. ie. Price of purchase and agents involved.
He should sell his stake asap to the fans if he want's to retain any credibity.
The king is dead long live the king?
Steve Blake
As a footbal Club,Bristol Rovers have gone nowwhere except from Bath back to Bristol. Mr Dunford personal interest will always be first followed by Bristol Rovers fc..At last the Club will move forward.
tony
since taking control of rovers six years ago we have done nothing but slide downhill . bye bye geofrey .
Jay
Geoff Dunfords contribution to Bristol Rovers should not be underestimated. He is a true gashead and has put much time, effort and money into this club. I will be sad to see him step down but I guess sometimes we need change to progress. I hope his replacement has the passion and commitment Geoff has shown us over the years.
surreygas
At last! the man goes! Can he not leave now!
Andy Butter
If todays Bristol Rovers players put in the same effort as Geoff Dunford has, we wouldn't still be in this awful division playing poor football. He's always done what he thought was best for Rovers and you can't knock him for that!
Steve Collett
That'll add an extra 3,000 onto our home gates!
Rob Bricker
About time! The club needs a change, it seems to have gone a bit stale, hopefully they can get a new man in who's going to have some fresh ideas and a bit of money!
Sir Morris Christopher
This doesn't change anything.
Mr Dunford is still on the board and with the new share issue he will be taking up his full allocation and will retain his percentage share holding of the club. With his friends on the board, the dictatorship remains.
Roger Bayley
Geoff Dunford is a gashead through & through. He should stay & see off those trying to undermine him.
