Making a guest appearance at the Gala was the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Lancaster bomber. Sixty-years-old but still flying high, the Avro-Lancaster PA474 (now named the City of Lincoln) never saw action in World War Two. However, the aircraft has the markings of a Lancaster from 61 Squadron which flew over 100 missions over Germany. It is one of only two Lancaster in the world that can still fly.

Much nearer to the ground the crowd was entertained by a couple of very clever sheepdogs who made it their business to round up not only geese and ducklings but children. Then there were the majorettes, the marching band and much more as well as all the fun of the fair.
