Huddersfield's football star of the future? What do you have to do to become a professional footballer? Ellie and Lewis from Ryburn Valley High School have been reporting for BBC School Report on their friend Bakar who's just been signed to Huddersfield Town Football Club... Ellie and Lewis have followed Bakar's progress and this is what they have to say. You can find out more on BBC Look North on Thursday 26th March! ![]() Lewis and Ellie: Your reporters! LEWIS: "It's everybody's schoolboy dream to play for a professional football team..." ELLIE: "...And our friend here is on the way to achieving that dream." BAKAR: "I was really proud and shocked at the same time. I'm just really grateful now because it's started my football career off. My parents are really proud of me as well. They've been supporting me all the way along, taking me to training and coming to watch my matches. I just really want to improve as a player, playing for professional teams when I'm older and just play good football. Mr Jackson, my P.E teacher, is really proud of me as well, really supportive." MR JACKSON: "When Bakar told us that he'd joined Huddersfield Academy, there was no surprise, especially from seeing him in his first few months here. He has a reading of the game and a knowledge which is really not met by anybody else in that group. We also look to use the skills and the ability that Bakar's developing with Huddersfield and integrate that into the school so it benefits other kids and also helps to push his own performance that little bit higher." ![]() ELLIE: "We're here at Huddersfield Town's Academy training ground..." LEWIS: "And our friend Bakar comes here four times a week..." ELLIE: "It's a half-hour drive there and back for his parents." ![]() Mr Jackson: Bakar's PE teacher GRAHAM MITCHELL, MANAGER, HUDDERSFIELD TOWN ACADEMY: "We look for technical ability. When there's a player we're interested in, we'll look at them again. We don't just watch them once. The next step then is to speak to the parents and then we'll invite them down to the Academy. It's been very good at Huddersfield Town. The young boys that come - whatever their age - into the Academy know if they're good enough they'll get an opportunity to play in the First Team. The boys understand that it's not just a football career they're pursuing, they also have their education to think of. So we'll liaise with their schools on all fronts really." BAKAR: "As you can see, football is tough. But all I want to do is do my best and hopefully one day become a professional footballer."
