Currently touring and ripping up the States, Hertfordshire's energetic Lower Than Atlantis get ready to release 'World Record', their new album in April with this, a banger called 'Deadliest Catch'. The nautical theme here is undeniable, as is the size of their riffs. I spoke to Mike LTA about this tune on the show, and he did a brilliant Welsh accent in return. Thanks Mike!

After making an album of sucinct and direct pop songs, Fyfe Dangerfield returns to the brilliantly bonkers Guillemots for a new album. Tonight's Hottest Record, 'The Basket' is as full of ideas and as free-wheeling as fans could expect with a great tune in there aswell. Have a listen.

Someone said today that the way Foo Fighters have set their album online is a masterclass. Whilst true, with stakes as high as that, the music has to more than live up to expectation. And it does, as tonight's Hottest Record will attest, after 'White Limo', 'Rope' brings some classic Foo melody to the equation and now we're ready for the album.

With their first two singles off a brand new album, The Wombats have already set the tone for a wiser and more considered approach. Now I know the word 'marture' is somewhat of a dirty word in music, but the maturity it takes to write a song like 'Anti-D' and to pull it off is something else. This band have always promised a more emotional resonance in their music but tonight's Hottest Record surpasses all of that.

As Mike Skinner calls time on 'The Streets' it seems he still has music to make... and so we get the whole album remixed under the name 'Death of Marat'. Tougher, Harder. His re-working of OMG makes sense around a decision that many feel doesn't.

The former frontman of the Fratellis is back continuing to make incredibly catchy pop records. This first solo effort is no exception.

A change of tack for J Majik and Wickaman with tonight's Hottest Record as they slow things down to dubstep. Complete with a massive hook and top level production, 'In Pieces' could be a genuine breakthrough. That's up to you.

Its not like you weren't warned...although to be fair I'm sure many of you have heard the 'this will be our most rocking record to date' nonsense before. Big difference this time is, it is. 'White Limo' is the Foo Fighters at their skull-crushing best and whilst it may shock you now we'll review that reaction after the summer.

Tonight's Hottest Record is a tidy antidote to all those barking dogs jumping out the speakers in clubs across the world right now. A warm rolling ray of sunshine that harks back to Roy Davis Jr and the golden age of garage. Look out for a full SBTRKT album later this year.

Aswell as being one of the breakout rap stars of last year, Example has plied a tidy trade in the collaboration business. This time his fingerprints are all over the Wretch 32 record 'Unorthodox'. Propelled by the mother of all indie breaks, Stone Roses 'Fools Gold', it stinks of another hit record for both.

The second song put out there from the new Glasvegas album 'Euphoric /// Heartbreak' harks back to the more traditional yearning of their debut album. Which is no bad thing when you do it with as much conviction as this band. If this really is a case of 'what does not kill you makes you stronger' then expect a strong return.

Completed in the early hours of this morning, tonight's Hottest Record is a re-working of Ronson's 'Record Collection' from his album of the same name. In true Ronson style, he's flicked through his little black book and got Pro Green, Wretch 32, Pharrell and MNDR to join Wiley on the track and we love it.

Jjjjyeeeeeeeaaaaaah, wewwwwwwww... gotta love the fact that The Blackout are back... with Hyro Da Hero on backing duty, this new single feels like the beginning of something pretty pretty big, LISTEN.

Liam Bailey was full of energy tonight, charged up about his new single 'You better leave me' and rightfully so. Full of melancholy soul, it's blues steeped in 70's funk-rock...oh you descibe it! It's good.
