Right, back to business and other links [05-01-09]
Many thanks for your Happy New Year messages to myself, colleague Alys, and other contributors of our website.
I've been getting back into the swing of things today and, as usual, I've been using our shared reader [what's this?] to highlight some local issues on the web I think you'll find interesting.
Rhyl town councillor Colin Jones blogs about his frustrations at being unable to fight people's corner on the local council and is considering quitting.
In the back of my mind I found myself drawing parallels between Colin's sentiments and that of the film I'd been watching on TV last night, Robert Redford's Lions for Lambs which carried the tagline: 'If you don't stand for something, you might fall for anything.'
Anyway, it's a crucial month for Wrexham FC, say fans on the 606 forum.
Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a restaurant car park in Ruthin on Friday.
And the Evening Leader reports on Mark Evans, from Llanrhaeadr, who is now in the final of BBC's Your Country Needs You, bidding for a chance to represent his country in this year's Eurovision Contest. He's a former pupil at Ysgol Glan Clwyd, St Asaph, and member of Adele Mead's School of Dance in Denbigh. [Good luck, Mark].
Meanwhile, another Mark, Mark Webster from Denbigh is defending his title as the BDO World Darts Champion.
Happy New Year!
