If Kevin Pietersen was concerned with the way his team collapsed to 98 all out inside 26 overs in the warm-up match against Mumbai's reserves, he was determined not to show it, preferring instead to label it as "a blip" and "not really too much to worry about".
The 124-run defeat will have been a lesson to England: primarily not to drop their concentration levels in the wake of a convincing win, and to respect the opposition.
