The Guardian reports Trinity Mirror's profits fell 41 per cent to £72.7m in 2009. Ad revenue at its regional newspapers fell by almost 30 per cent.

The BBC says the Justice Secretary Jack Straw has announced that lawyers must cut their libel "success fees" from 100% to 10%. Last week a committee of MPs said they were having a "chilling effect" on investigative journalism.
TiVo, which pioneered the digital video recorder business in the US but left the UK after losing out to Sky+, is launching a new box according to Business Week.
