What is your role at Euro 2008?
I'll be based in Austria for the most part and am down to commentate for Radio Five Live on the three group matches involving Germany, the three involving Spain, the second of the Vienna quarter-finals and then it's to Switzerland for the semi-final in Basle. Can't wait. I will also be breaking new ground in that I'll be writing a blog to go with it all.
Earliest football memory and favourite player?
Watching the 1973 FA Cup Final on the television. Sunderland's victory caused quite a stir in the North East of England which is where I grew up. As for favourite player, it was Kevin Keegan and Bryan Robson while I was growing up. Zinedine Zidane was a big favourite of mine. Now, I'd probably say Wayne Rooney.
Ideal sporting dinner guest?
I don't think there'd be too many gaps in the conversation with Sir Bobby Robson.
Best bit of advice you've received?
Don't get into farming (I come from a family of farmers).
Tell us something the public might not know about you...I have done the 200-odd-mile walk that is the Coast to Coast Walk, and I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Disappointed the Home Nations didn't make it to Euro 2008?
Hugely. International football has always done it for me...probably because I don't have a strong allegiance to any club. Being there will, though, take the edge off that disappointment. Supporters who have to stay at home and watch will feel it more.
Will there be another surprise winner?
Not that much of a surprise, but how about Portugal?
Which player will take the tournament by storm?
Franck Ribery.
Finally, how many goals will be scored at Euro 2008?
74.
