Is it possible to get a feed for all enviromental news. Or perhaps just a feed of https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/default.stm

RSS feed for "What's on now and next"

A lot of the time I would just like to quickly view what it online NOW and what's going to be on next, at a glance. Like the teletext service.

An RSS feed would be perfect for this, particularly if I could integrate it with my personal google homepage.

Example:
BBC1: Now: 20:00 - 21:00 - The News
BBC1 Next: 21:00 - 23:00 - Film: A Random Film
BBC2: Now:
BBC2: Next:
etc...

By Ben

I’ve just come off stage here at the d.construct Web2.0 conference in Brighton. I was talking about backstage.bbc.co.uk and it’s involvement in the Web2.0 community. I also gave the first public demo of the BBC Programme Catalogue project, which Matt Biddulph and Ben Hammersley are currently working on (that project is hopefully due to be launched in beta in the new year).

There’s a great crowd of people here at d.construct – perhaps 80 or so. We’ve been listening to speakers ranging from AJAX experts through to the representatives of other sites with a Web2.0 presence (such as Simon Willison from Flickr).

My presentation from the event is available here.

Mashup and remixing debate on BBC News Website

The BBC News Website is currently running a Have Your Say debate about the opportunities of remixing on the Internet.

Promoted as "Have your say: Are you mashing, remixing and creating on the web?", it’s an opportunity for you to tell the typically-mainstream BBC News audience about the kinds of things you are up to – whether it be on backstage.bbc.co.uk, Creative Archive or maybe somewhere else that’s not BBC.

It’s also an opportunity to check out the recently-launched Slashdot-style community space on the BBC News Website. Now reactively moderated, users can rate the merits of each other’s posts – bubbling up good comments to the surface and ensuring the debate flows in the right directions.

BBC Innovation Labs

Today I'm (Jem) in Bradford taking part in a launch day for what we're calling the BBC Innovation labs. The strapline is "seeking regional companies to imagine the future of bbc.co.uk". Its a pilot project to commission early stage prototypes from indies and developers in the North West, Yorkshire and London. We'll be reporting on its progress on Backstage and eventually the products that this project will help support will be hosted here. There are further events in North West and London later this month.

Two quick things:

Matt Locke (Head of Innovation at bbc.co.uk) who is running the events has just cited these Backstage prototypes; Davy Mitchell's Mood News, and Mario Menti's searching BBC schedules with IM to illustrate how the Backstage community has developed and implemented some great ideas.

Tony Ageh, the BBC's Controller, Internet said as part of his presentation.

"The BBC needs to break out of its website and be part of the internet. We need to make our solutions available to everyone else."
