FRESH MUSIC..
Just listening back to last night's show... LOVED doing it. With a show like that, it could have been 6 hours long and we still wouldn't have had enough time to play everything we wanted. We also had our first power cut during Erol alkan's remix of Franz Ferdinand's Do You Want To. it was all very exciting..
Hope you enjoyed it .
Because we had two theme shows in a row next week is all about new new music. stuff I'm excited about for the future like Cansei Der Se Sexy (listen to them HERE), Junior Boys ( a new band on domino), Does It Offend You Yeah, Para One, Luke Vibert's Kerrier District 2 album which is very classy and very fun dance music, produced to perfection.
Let me know what producers and bands that you're excited about at the moment..Is there anyone you think I should be representing in the show next week?
Alright Annie.
I'm really excited about the french label Edbanger at the moment, in particular, Uffie - 'Pop the glock' & 'Ready to Uff' and Busy P's - 'Whats your name again?'
I'm also really feeling a Hip-Hop artist by the name of Edan particularly 'Rock & Roll' and 'Funky drummer'.
I've been thinking also that it'd be great if you did like a live talk show with some music (perhaps called 'Last night a DJ saved my life') where you would get DJ's into the studio to talk about how they got into it and what their musical inffluences were growing up. How they learned how to DJ and what tips they would give to any aspiring DJ's.
There are tens of thousands of bedroom DJ's across the land who would absoultely love to hear what these people would have to say.
Would be great if you could get my favourite DJ, Erol Alkan in for the first one.
What do you the idea?
Complain about this posti heard you use hot chip 'over and over' as a bed in last weeks show. but omigod this is just the coolest driving tune this summer. shame I'm still living it large on a daysaver. I'm not sure if hot chip count as new tho, depends on how cool you are i guess.
ps. time for a blog blag----> check my web site for my regular pod cast www.jojosdojo.blogspot.com

Complain about this postAlbum's out in september Phil. I totally agree with you.. The Eraser is one of my top albums at the moment. It's quite hypnotic in it's loveliness. and I love Para One's album too! And Chiefrocka.. I'm with you about the Edbanger stuff. Loving some of DJ Mehdi's stuff from there...
Not sure if you've played it yet but "Paul Simon" by The Russian Futurists is a beautifully uplifting track.
Complain about this postWell, being a couple time zones over we have a bit of a different scene banging in Toronto.
Please please please get your hands on a copy De-Koze's new compilation Delicious and drop his and Gavo's "This Time" (Funky Way Mix) or Paranoid Jack's Big Slick.
Also keep Sydney Blu, Nathan Barato, Addy, and Manzone & Strong on your radar - they are all EXPLODING over here - its Dirty Dirty Dirty Electro!
Complain about this postI'm with you and Phil on "The Eraser", Annie - That's a bit of Mashed-worthy Downtempo if I ever heard it...
Who am I excited about? Whoever that genius kid was that Re-did "Booty Call" c/o Drumsound and Bassline Smith for the Birthday show!
Also, there's an act on Myspace called "Screamheads" who may tickle your fancy. Go 'un have a look my lovely...

Complain about this postI went to the D Percussion music festival in Manchester yesterday. Really good mixed line up. Happened upon a stage where two 12 year olds (1 DJ (Metrodome) and 1 MC (SBD))were absolutely killing it! You've got to check them out. www.myspace.com/metrodomestics - that boy knows how to scratch!
Complain about this postAlso, not particularly new but Broke 'n' English are a Manchester hip hop crew. Saw them yesterday and they are awesome. www.estaterecordings.com
Complain about this postAlso saw Metrodome and SDB at Dpercussion - two 12 year olds DJ and MC. Metrodome is like the Doogie Howser of the hip hop world. Man, metrodome knows how to scratch! www.myspace.com/metrodomestics
Complain about this postI dont know their names, but some of those guys scratching under those arches at D-percussion were awesome! Think I heard a future Mashed track too - Aim's Coldwater.

I can't find a tracklisting for that cuba feeling remix of a coldplay song, think it was from the parachutes album, let me know? I'd love to find out, and i'm getting married september, and would love for that track to be there.!

Annie,
I was at you're set in Newquay - Run To The Sun. It was totally awesome!
Though, there was a song that you played.... which was stunning, I've been looking for it since. Unless the amount I drank messed up what I heard ( more than likly ) I believe some of the lyrics were on about a war or something or other... ? Think I have part of the song on my phone but it's too distorted to tell what it is! :(
It was near the end of you're set, before Marco V came on, If you know what I'm on about I'd really appriciate an email to let me know!!
Can't wait for you're mix album!!
Many Thanks,
Sean

Do you know Malente?? He's an artist from Frankfurt in Germany and makes fine breakbeat-music. Don't know if you played hiim before.
His new album "How can you still stand to stand still" is terrific, especially the last song "Are yall fired up".
Perhaps one song you could play in one of your next shows?!

Another discovery for you Annie.
Look out for Lady Paradox, a classcialy trained young female emcee who is making really earthy, soulfull Hip-Hop with some really thoughtfull lyrics and nice beats.
I became aware of her through her writing and interviews for ukhh.com a UK Hip-Hop site. She is currently unsigned as far as i'm aware.
Check out her tunes on https://www.myspace.com/ladyparadox
....I really like the track 'Perspectives'.
