Entry to the Portrait Design Competition by Charlie who attended a FREE Blast on Tour workshop in the Isle of Wight. This design is for Ed Sheeran. Charlie says: I chose this band, as Ed Sheeran seems very individual; I don’t think I’ve seen an artist quite like him in the music charts. He also had a very “down to earth” attitude in the video we were shown, which made him almost endearing. I think my design represents his unique and, in a word, natural style; by blending the use of natural/traditional materials, with the modern twist added by the digital element – I chose this mixed media form to convey the idea of him being different from other artists. I directly used portraiture by sketching part of a portrait of the artist himself, and mixing it with a photograph taken of him.
