Eagle Works Exposed

The Eagle Works Artists' Group Show is on until the 11th November 2006. They'd like you to visit their exhibition.

Eagle Works
Eagle Works, Wolverhampton

The Eagle Works is a dilapidated former mattress factory in Alexander Street, Wolverhampton. It’s been a base and haven for the Black Country’s modern artists for 22 years and is now more visible than ever.

The recent demolition of buildings on the Raglan Street site in front of Eagle Works now allows a new view of the well known former factory.

The artists that belong to the Eagle Works Artists' Group, in Alexander Street, have responded to the change in their surroundings with a new show – ‘Exposed’.

Their exhibition is a colourful mix of abstract conceptual, figurative paintings and sculpture.

The contributing artists are: Jain McKay, Knighton Hosking, Jane O'Reilly, Gail Britt, Rosemary Terry, Derek Jones, Julie McNally-Hayes, Simon Francis, Sylbert Bolton, John Hampton, James Millichamp, Simon Harris and Kyla Dante.

The show is curated by Kate Pryor, exhibitions curator at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

In her introduction to the show, Kate wrote:

“Exposed brings together highlights from the diverse and multi-disciplinary work produced by artists working in the iconic Eagleworks building in Wolverhampton.

“As one of the longest running studio groups in the region Eagleworks has stayed true to its roots and many of the members have stood tall in the face of various threats of demolition and take over…

“It is extremely positive to see this group staying together and still producing work, leading the way to encourage greater creativity in the city.”

The Eagle Works Artists' Group is keen to share their exhibition with the public.
