Andrew studied Politics at Leicester University and completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Central England in Birmingham. He gained experience working in the studio on BBC Radio Leicester's Saturday sports programme as a teenager and he went on to work extensively for the station as a freelance for 10 years. Andrew first started sports bulletin shifts at BBC WM in 1993 and he has covered football matches regularly for the station since 1996. He has also reported on several other sports over the years, including cricket, rugby, boxing, athletics, motor sport and speedway. He has more recently been doing news shifts in the Birmingham newsroom during the week, including work for BBC WM, Midlands Today, News Online and Ceefax, and covering games at the weekend.
