Walsall Football Club Information

Two of the leading clubs in the Walsall area in the 1880s were Walsall Swifts (formed 1877) and Walsall Town (formed 1879). The two clubs amalgamated as Walsall Town Swifts in 1888 and became simply Walsall in 1895.

Travel by rail:

From Birmingham New Street, take Central Trains Service for Walsall alighting at Banks's Stadium.

Travel by road:

From the South and West: keep on M5 past Junction 1 to where the road divides. Bear right (The North West, Walsall, Wolverhampton, M6). After 1.6 miles the road joins the M6. Exit at next Junction (junction 9, A461 Wednesbury). At roundabout turn right (Walsall A461).* After 0.1miles, keep right where road divides (Ring Road A4148 and Bescot Stadium) into Wallows Lane, go through the traffic lights, over the bridge, and right at the lights into Bescot Crescent.
From the North and East: Exit M6 at Junction 9 (A461 Wednesbury) and at roundabout follow signs to Walsall A461. Then as * above.

Fact file

On 19 April 1960 a 2-all draw with Notts County began a run of 26 undefeated home league games for the Saddlers. The club remained unbeaten at Fellows Park in the 1960-61 season as they secured a second successive promotion. The undefeated home run continued until September 1961.
