Narrator: Molly, as scientists, we sometimes need to observe things over time.
Can we find out how long it takes for tadpoles to turn into frogs?
Molly: Ok, you watch that pond and I’ll watch this one.
Narrator: How often you observe depends on what you’re testing, but for tadpoles we can record their progress once a week!
Molly, did you not tell him?..
You don’t have to watch them ALL the time!
Child: Woah!
Narrator: Ah look, they’re frogs!
Scientists sometimes need to observe things over time. How often you need to look depends on what is being observed.
If you observe the effect of heat on an ice cream, changes will happen quickly so you'll need to observe without any interruption.
If you observe tadpoles or trees, it will take weeks and months to observe any changes. You will need to use a variety of approaches to answer your specific questions.
