Music can be fast, slow or anywhere in between.
When Bella is whipping the cream, she needs to go quickly - and Harry thinks music can help!
Do you know any songs that are really fast or maybe some that are very slow?
INTERIOR RESTAURANT KITCHEN - DAY - Bella is standing behind the counter with a large mixing bowl and a whisk. As she mixes it, Harry enters with a tray of napkins. Slow, relaxed music is playing from the radio in the background.
HARRY:(breezily, full of energy) Morning chef Bella! What are we cooking today?
BELLA:(calmly) Today? No cooking needed. I am whipping this a-cream.
As she says this, Bella appears to be calm and sedate. She whips the cream very slowly. It's clear she's influenced by the music playing in the background. Harry, quietly folding napkins, watches as Bella moves at record slow speed.
HARRY:(hesitantly) You know… I find that when I need to do something at a certain speed, music can really help.
BELLA:(hesitantly) Really?
HARRY: Of course!
Harry gestures to the radio.
HARRY: But this is the kind of music I could fall asleep to! It's so slowwwww!
BELLA: I was starting to feel a little sleepy…
HARRY: We need something much faster! Something quick and full of energy!
Harry picks up the radio and passes through a few stations before landing on what is clearly Offenbach's CAN-CAN. Bella starts whipping the cream up brilliantly to the beat of the piece while dancing around the kitchen. Harry enjoys her dancing while folding napkins.
BELLA: Harry! Look!
The cream has thickened and Bella is delighted.
HARRY:(to himself) My work here is done.
Harry exits.
INTERIOR RESTAURANT KITCHEN - DAY (LATER) - This time Korsakov's FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEE is playing. Bella is standing with two bowls and a set of electric whisks in each hand. Harry comes back into the kitchen.
BELLA: Look, Harry! Even faster!
Harry stands gawping, speechless. She had electric whisks all along…
THE END.
