Spanish: Talking about school

To talk about your favourite subject at school in Spanish, you can ask:

¿Cuál es tu asignatura favorita? - What is your favourite subject?

You can then start your answer with:

Mi asignatura favorita es… - My favourite subject is…

Instructions in the classroom

You might hear your teacher ask you questions in Spanish, as well as give you some instructions, for example:

Remember when you need to give a command; you can use an upside down exclamation mark, for example:

¡Sentaos! - Sit down!

For questions, use an upside down question mark at the beginning of the sentence, for example:

• ¿Puedes repetir, por favor? - Please could you repeat?

• ¿Cómo se escribe…? - How do you spell…?
