She bought a quarter of the tickets and you bought a third of those.

So you multiply the two numerators together and then multiply the two denominators together.

So you have one twelfth of all the tickets.

Whereas you had a quarter of the tickets, but you sold a third of them so you have two thirds of a quarter of the tickets left, that's two twelfths.
