The birth of Jesus

To Christians, Jesus is a very important person.

He lived in Palestine over 2000 years ago.

At Christmas Christians celebrate his birth.

At Easter Christians remember that he died on the cross for our sins.

The Bible

A lot of what we know about Jesus is from what we read in the Bible.

Most of the Bible stories are about Jesus when he was grown up, but we don’t know a lot about what he was like as a child.

Part of a family

What we do know is that Jesus was part of a family.

His parents on earth were chosen especially by God to be his mum and dad.

Mary was visited by the Angel Gabriel, who told her that she would have a baby who would be God’s son.

Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus in December by remembering the nativity story.

Jesus was kind

The Bible teaches us that Jesus was kind, caring and courageous.

Mary and Joseph, as his parents, taught him about God and the importance of being kind to others.

Now that you have learned about Jesus as a boy, find out about the miracles he performed as a man.
