*The two children and their teacher are standing on a road beside a sign pointing to Bethlehem. *
TEACHER: Hello! Get ready you two, today we’re going to learn about the boyhood of Jesus Christ.
NORA/THOMAS: Class! Where is he?
*We are suddenly outside a stable. Joseph and Mary are gazing at the baby Jesus. *
TEACHER: According to the Bible, Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. After Jesus was born, he moved back to his family's hometown of Nazareth. Although the Bible teaches that Jesus was God's son, his parents on Earth were known as Mary and Joseph.
NORA: Two dads? Lucky him, that's twice the presents at Christmas I bet!
The screen wobbles and we are now in a family home, a bright angel is floating above the ground. Mary looks up at him.
TEACHER: Christians believe that an angel called Gabriel came to Mary one night and told her that she would have a son. The angel told her that she should call him Jesus and that he would be the Son of God.
The scene suddenly switches to Nazareth. Joseph is working at a carpenter's bench.
THOMAS: Is that Joseph? What's he doing?
TEACHER: Joseph was a carpenter. That’s someone who makes things from wood.
A young Jesus comes to help Joseph.
TEACHER: As a boy Jesus was known as the ‘carpenter's son’. Jesus learned from Joseph to become a carpenter himself one day. In those days carpenters made everything, from furniture to tools. Still, not much is known about Jesus in his early life. However, a book in the Bible, known as the Gospel of Luke, tells us that Jesus was a good son who was kind and caring to others. Much like he was when he was older!
Jesus gives Mary a present that he has made for her. The family smile together.
