Mae gwahanol fathau o drawsffurfiadau.

• Cylchdroi yw pan gaiff siâp ei droi o amgylch pwynt.
• Adlewyrchu yw pan gaiff siâp ei adlewyrchu mewn llinell ddrych.
• Trawsfudo yw pan gaiff siâp ei symud bellter penodol o’i safle gwreiddiol.

There are different kinds of transformation.

• Rotation is when the shape is turned around a point.
• Reflection is when a shape is reflected in a mirror line.
• Translation is when a shape is moved a certain distance from its original position.

• Trawsfudo yw pan mae siâp yn llithro o un lle i’r llall heb droi (i fyny, i lawr neu ochr i ochr).
• Mae adlewyrchiad yn debyg i ddefnyddio drych. Mae’r adlewyrchiad yr un hyd o’r llinell ddrych ag y mae o’r siâp gwreiddiol.
• Cylchdroi yw symud siâp yn glocwedd neu’n wrthglocwedd o gwmpas pwynt. Enw’r pwynt yma yw canol cylchdro. Rhaid i’r siâp aros yr un pellter o’r pwynt yr holl ffordd o gwmpas.

Notes for parents

• If a shape is transformed, its appearance changes. We can transform a shape in different ways - translation, reflection and rotation.
• Translation is when a shape is moved from one position to another without turning (up, down or from side to side).
• Reflection is when a shape is reflected in a mirror line. The reflection is the same distance from the mirror line as it is from the original shape.
• Rotation is when a shape is turned clockwise or anti-clockwise around a point. This point is called the centre of rotation. The shape has to stay the same distance from the point all the way around.
