• We can multiply larger numbers by making the numbers easier to manage.
• 6 x 40 is the same as 6 x 4 x 10. Therefore, you must first multiply 6 with 4 to make 24.
• Then you can multiply 24 with 10 by moving the number one column to the left and filling the other columns with 0, making 24 x 10 = 240. Therefore 6 x 40 = 240.
