It's that time of year again when love is in the air, and your social media will undoubtedly be overflowing with loved-up couples. In fact, in 2024, there were over 27.2 million posts on Instagram using the hashtag #ValentinesDay.
From rumoured heartthrobs Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet, to the newly engaged Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco – love is definitely in the air in the celebrity world.
But can you tell which images below show the celebrity couples sharing real love, and which ones are AI-generated? Let’s put your detective skills to the test!
Couple #1: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Swifties will likely remember where they were when the singer was spotted cheering on Travis Kelce at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium on 24 September 2023.
It's believed the pair are completely besotted with one another, but the question is: Is this picture of Taylor and Travis tying the knot the real deal, or an AI creation?

It’s AI!
While there has been speculation about an engagement, this image isn't real.
The photo of Taylor and Travis supposedly getting married was shared on Facebook in the public group Taylor Swift Special Group by a user named Lee Bristol. Some of the group's 39.1K members were quick to congratulate the couple, whilst others highlighted this was the work of AI, with one fan telling the user to "quit the lies".
If you're unsure whether an image is real or not, check if it looks too perfect. AI images often miss the small, natural details seen in real photos, resulting in a polished or "airbrushed" look.
Couple #2: Zendaya and Tom Holland

Since Tom Holland and Zendaya met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2016, they’ve become one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples.
Brought together initially on screen, their engagement was seemingly confirmed at the Golden Globes at the start of the year when Zendaya wore what looked like an engagement ring.
But what do you think? Is this image of Zendaya and Tom being interviewed #CoupleGoals, or is it an AI creation?

It's real!
The loved-up couple's photo was shared to 52.8K followers on Instagram by the user @marvelstoriesbyme, with the caption, "Me, obsessed with you? maybeee."
When trying to determine whether an image is real or AI-generated, pay attention to the description and hashtags. In this case, the uploader states, "I don't own this picture," suggesting that the image can likely be found elsewhere. To verify its authenticity, you could perform a reverse image search to trace the original source.
Couple #3: Rihanna and A$AP Rocky

Rihanna and A$AP had been friends for a number of years before they started dating.
In a GQ interview in May 2021, A$AP Rocky spoke about their relationship, calling Rihanna "the love of my life."
Question is: Is this picture of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky real, or an AI creation?

It’s AI!
Yep, this picture of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky is AI.
This image was posted on Instagram to 70K followers by the user @ainofun with the caption ‘My favorite couple + this song is a vibe ❤️’.
AI programs can often struggle with small details in images such as text or logos. Take a closer look at A$AP Rocky’s jacket - there’s an embedded Instagram handle, @ainofun. It's always a good idea to inspect the text closely to determine if an image is real.
