Our resources

Whether you're a parent, carer or Early Years professional, we've created a range of really useful resources to help children approach transition with confidence. Follow the links to download our worksheet, stickers and flyer and help to build excitement as children get ready for big school.

All About Me poster

Early Years Consultant Alex Chiorando explains how you can fill in the All About Me poster with your child.

Designed to celebrate each child’s personality and help them develop some of the everyday skills they’ll need at big school, our downloadable poster sits alongside the Early Years curriculum. It’s a great at-home project for families to work on together, sparking lots of really useful pre-school activities – and it can go on the fridge when you’ve finished, or be presented to their new teacher when they start. It can be printed as A3 or A4.

All About Me: Guidance for parents and carers

With lots of ideas for using the All About Me poster, this downloadable guidance is packed with at-home activities to enjoy with your preschooler. These will help children develop the confidence and skills they’ll need at big school, including independence and self-care, recognising their name, working with numbers and talking about the things they love.

All About Me: Guidance for Early Years professionals

Aimed at Early Years practitioners but easy for parents and carers to dip into too, this downloadable guidance shows how the activities on the All About Me poster work with the learning objectives that many nurseries would usually follow in the run-up to big school. It has ideas for extra activities that will work at home as well as in childcare.

Flyer

Spread the word about the BBC Bitesize Starting Primary School campaign by downloading one of our digital flyers, which has lots of information about our free resources. Feel free to send this out to families whose children are about to start primary school, or print it for the parent noticeboard.

Stickers

Got a child who’s starting primary school? Print out our ‘I’m going to big school’ stickers to celebrate their achievements as they build their confidence towards the big day!

Printing: You can print onto an A4 blank sticker sheet and cut the stickers out, or use an A4 sticker sheet with pre-cut blank 24 x 40mm circular stickers. To make sure these match, don’t alter the print margins.

Our School Starters poster

Celebrate your school starters and help families build excitement for the next stage of their children’s journey with our poster for parent noticeboards. It has a place for your school starters’ names and signposts all the resources available from our campaign, including help with sleep, making friends, being independent and lots of expert advice.

For further information check out the rest of Starting Primary School which has lots of ways to help prepare children for different aspects of school life – both practically and emotionally.
